Tiffany Aching

So far I am loving this series. I feel like this is one of the best things we have read all semester. I love all of the witty things that Tiffany says.

"It's quite easy to accidentally overhear people talking downstairs if you hold an upturned glass to the floorboards and accidentally put your ear to it."
-Tiffany; Hat Full of Sky

Just one of the many things that she says that I love.

  1. I completely agree. I started making a list of all the great quotes from the two books and it's become quite long. The way Tiffany views the world is so refreshing to me and makes me want to read as many stories as I can about her.

  2. I agree as well. There were several times I found myself laughing out loud at her and her perception of the world. She was definitely a very fun protagonist to follow...it's also hard to remember how young she is in the books. She definitely acts and thinks in a more mature way than expected.

  3. Everyone I have talked to about these books have said basically the same thing-best things we've read all semester, my favorite books so far, I really want to see what else TP has written, etc.

I personally think this is because these novels represent most closely what, at the beginning of the semester, we all said defined fantasy. You have your talking animals, an obvious sense of magic, magical creatures both evil and good, evil Queens pitted against good witches, life and death and their relations, etc. The list goes on....

I wouldn't say these books are my favorite of the semester, but they are high up there. It was nice to experience a breakaway from the cliche forms of fantasy through Link and The Shadow Year and the Years Best, but it has also been nice to be able to return to a more normal fantasy novel
