    I like how Link mentions that she thinks "The Great Divorce" is indeed very different to the styles of the other stories in Magic for Beginners. Personally, I would consider each story to have its own style; the voice and narrator seemed unique for each story, and the only similarities I saw between stories were Link's overall themes and symbols. "The Great Divorce" seemed no more out of place than all the other ones.
    I think if you had mixed up the stories from Magic for Beginners and Pretty Monsters and compiled them into a third novel, the reader would not necessarily be able to pick out Link's earlier writings from her more recent ones. While they are all very unique, in the end, each one follows the same quirkiness and "Linkisms", per say.
